The Dawn of a New Era

As my mom and dad would always say when the election coverage would come on the TV. "This is History being made!" Of course what 16 or 17 year old really cares about History being made. I have to say though, today was the first time I really felt like I was a part of changing the course of History. Maybe because this is the first real change that I've been a part of in my life. Just think, either a Woman will be in the White House or an African American will be in the White House. Can we truly be standing on the edge of a greater time in History? What changes will occur in the next 4 years? How will preconceptions and viewpoints change? How will the direction of the country and the world change? I have to say it is exciting to be setting a stake in the sand and knowing that you have been a part of creating the history of the world. Musings

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I was lucky enough to take a trip to New Hampshire with some good friends in the middle of September, and like most things, time just slips away. So here I am, back in the saddle, thinking of new thoughts and ideas.

Yesterday, I had a phone call with a good friend, and she was telling me how she had a flash of insight in the middle of cutting the grass last weekend. It was an interesting conversation, because she told me that she finally realized that she didn't have to be the one to "fix" everything in everyone else's life. This is huge! I say that because unless you are driven by that thought, that expectation of yourself, you can't know what it means to have that realization. At 40 something, she finally realized that God never expected her to take on the responsibility of carrying everyone throughout her life. So in this phone call she said to me, "how do I define myself and my life if I am no longer that person?" Interesting question, for throughout our lives we are redefining who we are over and over. How do you define yourself today? How is that different than five years ago? Ten years? In these re-defining moments in time we move into a new way of thinking, we grow and stretch as the questions become new. The answers well, there is that thought that we know the answers. It is the questions that we don't know how to ask. So as I leave this evening, think about who you are, what are the driving forces in your life now that are different than before? Are they different than before? If they are, how have they changed you? If they aren't what is it that you are failing to see or failing to learn? Maybe there is nothing you have failed to see or learn. Maybe it is just being driven in the same vein because you have not come to the cross roads that will lead you down a differnt path. Maybe, you aren't ready yet.

There is a saying that I really like, it goes something like this:
When the student is ready, the master will appear....Are you ready? Who are your masters or teachers?

Sparks

Today has been a pretty rainy day. But even on rainy days you can find interesting ideas to spark ones creativity. As I was surfing the internet tonight I found a really cool site that I wanted to share with you. Check out the elibrary, there are literally thousands of ebooks that you can get access to at this site. Stop in and take a read.

I know my niece loves her ebook reader gizmo that her dad got her. It is pretty cool because it allows her to download the ebooks so she can take them with her. Pretty creative. Although I have to admit, I am still a paper and ink book reader. Since I brought up my niece, I have to say she really comes up with some very creative ideas for gifts. One year she had perfume created just for her mom. No one else will have the perfume that she created for her mom. Very cool idea. Another year she got me a set of fragrances that you mix together to get unusual fragrances. Keep up the creative thinking Dee.

911 Tribute to creativity and imagination

What a great idea notmyst2much. It just goes to show that imagination and creativity doesn't have to cost anything either. Here is another challenge to all you imaginative and creative friends. Why not share your creativity and imagination with the rest of us. The more we share of what inspires and uplifts the kinder and gentler the world will become. Beauty and wonder can exist in a world filled with hate, but the person who creates that beauty and inspires that wonder can not exist in the same space and time as hate.

Tomorrow is the anniversary of 911 and the folks who attacked our country could not squelch the loving and giving spirit of our nation. Yes we are a nation filled with all kinds of people, but when it comes to pulling together, to fighting for what is right and standing up for what is right, there is a beauty and a wonder that will transcend all hate and evil. This is a great country and the inspiring acts of the people in New York and around the country brought a pride within my heart that can only be understood, once you feel it. Stand up for the wonder and the beauty this nation has to offer to all. Show your spirit and share your inspiration for why we are the greatest Country in the World. How will you honor those that fell that fateful day 7 years ago! I challenge each of you to find a creative way to honor our fellow Americans.

How do you use your imagination and creativity?

My last post was about imagination and creativity. This post is to elicit feedback from all of you out there on how you use your imagination and creativity.

Sometimes when we don't feel we have much creativity in our lives or that we lack imagination, we really sell ourselves short. I say this because maybe your job seems mundane or boring. Maybe your personal life is filled with honey do lists, and personal task lists that you feel don't allow you to use your imagination or creativity. Maybe this is true, maybe it is just a matter of changing your outlook and deciding that you are going to find new ways to do that job, or using your imagination to change that honey do list into a challenge. How can you do those things where you can use your imagination to make something creative out of that "chore" like task you must do....

So think about this, I challenge you out there to tell me how you use your imagination to create a life that is filled with more than just the mundane.......

I'll be waiting. Thanks!

Imagination the backbone of life.

So here I sit, thinking about imagination and creativity. I think the imagination sparks one to be creative in a variety of ways. Take for instance the young man who loves motorcycles. He knows everything there is to know about motorcycles. He knows how they work, why they run. He is so facinated by motorcycles that he can't consume enough information on the subject. In effect he has become an expert on motorcycles. Because of this, he is able to allow his creative mind to take over and carry him to places and ideas that he might not otherwise have about motorcycles if he weren't an expert. So he comes up with a new type of engine for the motorcycle to run on. He develops a new design for the body or a new method in which the carborator will work.
My point to this blog, is that everyone has an imagination. Everyone, has the ability to take that creative spark that lives inside them and turn it into something tangible. So many people walk around and say they aren't good at this or that. Instead, they should be focusing on what they do well, and allowing that creative force to pulse through them so they can find some satisfaction in the creative process. I think one of man's greatest gifts is his imagination, and how he uses that imagination and creativity can change the world.
